Below you’ll find the header images that link to seven different Creative Assignments from the DS106 Assignment Bank, completed by me, throughout my time in INTE 5340: Learning with Digital Stories.

“The DS106 Assignment Bank hosts the assignments that participants from the DS106 course complete as part of their curriculum.  Rather than specifying assignments everyone must do, participants can choose from an array of ones included on this site – all of them have been created by course participants.  Each assignment has a rated difficulty of 1 to 5 stars (participants can vote).  So for a particular topic, the task might be to complete 10 stars worth of say, Design Assignments.”

The visual assignment that I chose from the DS106 Assignment Bank is called the Forrest Gump Project: “Good ole’ Forrest Gump. He always manages to find himself at the center of history, and using photo editing software, so can you. Find a historic photograph and place yourself into the scene, just like Forrest Gump.”

The audio assignment that I chose from the DS106 Assignment Bank is called Solo Vocal Trio: “First, find a song that you feel comfortable singing in your natural register. Record yourself singing it three separate times, and layer those together using your choice of audio editing software. Do not use any effects for this, so try to pick an acoustic song relying mainly on the vocals.”

The mashup assignment that I chose from the DS106 Assignment Bank is called This Doesn’t Belong Here. It states, “For this assignment you need to mash up two different iconic movie scenes. However, you should aim to be as subtle as possible. Perhaps a famous prop that simply doesn’t belong or a character that looks a little out of place.”

The design assignment that I chose from the DS106 Assignment Bank is called Dog It Out. It states, “Take a picture of your dog, or any animal that you have. Then upload the picture to a any desired editor. Edit the picture to make it something unique and interesting. Give the dog a cigar, clothes, a hat, a ball, make the dog ride a bicycle, car, a train etc. Make sure that it is creative and makes people smile.”
